Praseodymium metal is a silvery white metal element that can be processed into plates, sheets, rods, ingots, pellets, sputtering targets and other forms to support customization. Praseodymium metal is a soft, malleable and ductile metal, valued for its magnetic, electrical, chemical, and optical properties. It is too reactive to be found in native form, and pure praseodymium metal slowly develops a green oxide coating when exposed to air. To protect praseodymium for this reaction, praseodymium is usually stored in a sealed plastic container or covered with oil. Praseodymium also reacts quickly with hot water to form praseodymium hydroxide. Praseodymium metal tarnishes slowly in air and easily burns at 150 °C to form praseodymium (III, IV) oxide.
Praseodymium Metal, is used as high-strength alloying agent in the Magnesium used in parts of aircraft engines. It is an important alloying agent in Neodymium-Iron-Boron magnets. Praseodymium is used to create high-power magnets notable for their strength and durability. It also used in lighters, torch strikers, 'flint and steel' fire starters, etc.
